About Us

National Organization

Alpha Epsilon Delta was founded as a national honor society in the spring of 1926 at the University of Alabama with the mission to foster successful and well-rounded undergraduates pursuing a career in medicine. Since then, 184 chapters have been chartered nationwide, forming a network of 144,000 alumni spanning coast to coast who embody the ideals of the society. In addition, a national convention comprised of delegates from each chapter is held biennially to conduct business related to the field of medicine. Today, the organization is the world's largest pre-medical honor society and is proud to welcome students from all fields who are engaged in the pursuit of a professional health career.

The Alpha Chapter

Founded in 1939 and made up of around 120 members, USC Alpha Epsilon Delta hopes to encourage and recognize excellence in premedical scholarship and to stimulate an appreciation of the importance of pre-medical education both in and outside of the classroom; to promote communication between medical and premedical students and educators; to provide a forum for students with common interests; and to use its resources to benefit health organizations, charities, and the community.
